We Want To Hear From You...

Current Issues

Dear Anaheim Resident, I ran for the office of City Councilmember in November 2010, to focus on the following issues. I remain focused on delivering on the promises of my campaign and also, welcome your input on other areas of importance to you as a resident of Anaheim. We are a great city, the largest in Orange County, but also comprised of smaller neighborhood communities that have been engaged in the city’s civic affairs for more than 150 years. I am honored to represent you and encourage you to share your views.

Kindest regards,
Kris Murray

Protecting Anaheim Families, Communities and Private Property

Fighting crime, drugs, gangs and graffiti is my highest priority. I support Anaheim’s world-class police and fire departments and will do whatever necessary to make sure they have the tools and resources needed to keep doing the job within the city’s budget. We must also work to preserve our many unique neighborhoods, creating community pride and encouraging individual responsibility.

Growing Anaheim’s Economy

We must aggressively market the City of Anaheim and create more economic opportunities while preserving the City of Anaheim's treasured heritage. I strongly support the Anaheim Resort District, the most important economic engine and source of jobs in our city. In addition to the resort area, there is room to improve and grow jobs throughout the City from the West end to the Canyon in Anaheim Hills. We must ensure that Anaheim remains the best choice for businesses looking to expand or relocate in California.

Expanding Transportation Options and Cutting Traffic

For over a decade, I have worked to improve Anaheim's streets, roads, commuter rail, and bus systems. I helped deliver new funding for transportation projects that will expand Anaheim’s economic base. One of my highest transportation priorities is the completion of the iconic Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) – a world class transit center that will help to move residents and the more than 20 million visitors to our city annually throughout the resort areas, county and greater region. In addition, I remain committed to improvements that reduce conversion on the 91 Freeway, and street improvements throughout the city, as well as emerging transportation programs that will provide increased access to the city while reducing traffic on our streets and roads.

Commitment to Energy Independence and Quality Water for our Residents

Anaheim is very fortunate to have our own public utility providing power and water to residents and our business community to ensure reliability and to maintain competitive rates over neighboring cities served by investor owned utilities. Energy and water costs are two of the major issues facing all Californians. In my previous capacity, as Vice Chair of the Anaheim Public Utility Board I fought to keep our utility rates among the lowest in the state. I continue to represent Anaheim on the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, working with leaders throughout Southern California to provide oversight and programs that ensure the region’s long-term water supplies. As a City Councilmember, I will continue my work to keep costs down while encouraging conservation and alternative energy solutions.

Improved Delivery of City Services

We must always strive to improve the delivery of City services to our residents and businesses. As a Councilmember, I seek your input and suggestions on what services need improvement and how we can achieve those objectives. I will work with residents to beautify neighborhoods, partner with local schools, extend community programs at local parks and libraries, reduce crime and graffiti, and speak loud and clear to protect and serve YOU, the citizens and taxpayers of Anaheim.
